We looked for a place there a year ago and heard lots of stories such as these. We are currently in Pokfulam and even the other day had a Chinese man walk into our home in the middle of the day. As soon as he saw someone in the flat he ran out. We reported him to security. Apparently they knew the man (repair guy) and he apologetically said he accidentally walked into the wrong flat... "Maybe!" I thought. Either way, you're right, HK is very safe compared to other places. I'm glad everything worked out in the end and am sorry you had to go through this! Living in SK?
